They will rescind your vacation to give you time off when? Clearly they cant plan ahead with any notice because they were aware at 8 months and now with still 2 months left they can't find anyone? I actually think it will be easier to find someone now as opposed to 6 months ago (generally it is hard to find people to commit that far in advance for just a week, so she would have had trouble securing someone).

I would email (so you have it in writing) reminding her of how 6 months ago you absolutely cleared with her and there has been a lot of moving parts that you wont be able to stop; your husband scheduled HIS vacation and can't change now, everything is paid for and quite frankly, 2 months is enough time to find back up care. Neighbor, grandma, grandpa, heck she can take her days off (don't even tell me this is a SAHM!!) and forget about the obvious choices like, agencies or ask her friends that also have a nanny if they have any time free to cover or friends or also even a nanny share for a week. Sure there must be some other mom with kids in same school that wont mind sharing the nanny for a week (and have nanny make some extra money).

Op, Just please whatever you do, don't work your schedule around her. Don't cancel your trip. If money is too tight and you absolutely need this job and it turns out you'd have to cancel vacation.... Only with everything paid plus a bonus for your troubles which doesn't sound like your bosses would offer you because these people are clearly too entitled to think about other people. [/quote]
