I just wouldn't guarantee P/T hours.[/quote] I worked as a pt nanny thoughout college. After getting burned once, I always asked for (and received) guaranteed hours. This was usually my only benefit (no PTO or sick days of my choosing- if I called to cancel I didn't get paid) and most families were quite willing to offer it. So definitely not a rare phenomenon.
