I am beginning my search for a nanny and I was wondering what a fair rate would be. We would prefer someone who speaks Arabic as their first language since we are Arabic speakers ourselves and want to raise DS bilingual, so an immigrant nanny would be ideal. We would offer 10 paid federal holidays, 5 days paid sick leave, 7 days paid vacation leave of nanny's choice, and 10 days paid vacation leave our choice. She would be allowed to carry over her sick leave every year but not her vacation leave. We would also pay for her healthcare and pay her $100 for a metrocard once a month (or fill up her with gas every two weeks if she drives). She does not have to have experience being a nanny but she has to have experience taking care of children. She would have full access to whatever is in our kitchen. If she is a live in, she would have her own room, with a tv and an en suite bathroom. We would expect her to work 40-45 hours a week from Monday to Thursday. DS would be four months old at the time. We have no other children. What do you think a fair weekly rate would be for a live in or live out? Also how would that rate change if we want her to do housekeeping duties (we currently have a bi-weekly housecleaning service and would drop them if the nanny we hire agrees to perform housekeeping duties. Our home is 2300 square feet.
