I have been working with a new family for the past 2 weeks. What I thought was a wonderful position and fit, looks like it will not be that at all. I am unsure if this is grounds to quit so I'll list the issues and I'd love to gain perspective regarding my position. ( no order as to importance) - The contract we agreed upon has been altered. I walked into work today and the mom handed me a new one with ' revisions". They changed hours ( extended) for occasion when they know I have school. Added housekeeping duties and gave a list of things I can do when she( child age 5 months naps). I get no down time, only 15 to eat lunch( not joking). They want me to do an extensive list of housekeeping. - This ties into housekeeping. Arrived at work and mom tells me " I bought some new dish soap for you" and left a pile of dishes in the sink. Basically, she wants me to do her dishes which weren't even agreed upon or put into contract. - Really upset me is she made me hold off for 45 minutes feeding child so she could breastfeed upon arrival. Baby cried bloody murder the entire time. - Family offered to supply lunch daily for me. From day one, I have had to bring my own lunch because they haven't supplied any. That make a point of it daily and the dad says " oh good you bought lunch. We haven't shopped yet.". Day one I didn't eat all day because I assumed there would be lunch supplied. - Mom showers when she knows I would be arriving. Numerous times I've waited 5+ outside for her to let me in. - They pay me weekly and I get a guaranteed hours payed. The first week, I started off with a trial day and 3 days. No required pay and she docked me for the hours she had me leave when she came home early. Again, were supposed to be payed. Biggest thing is, week one she forgot her checkbook so I had to wait for pay. Second week, I worked 46 hours( no time and a half) and she tried docking those and this week, she docked me because she took off a day( was supposed to be guaranteed pay). - Mom claims she is very happy with me but got pissed when her daughter reached for me while she held her. I can't help that. No I didn't take her either. - She told me to put her in the swing to nap but we are trying to transition her out of it. Well she was especially fussy so mom said put her in swing. I did and then she made a comment about me putting her in. I reminded her that she told me to and she just looked pissed. I am seriously contemplating quitting( after I find new position) because I feel there is a total lack of disrespect and communication( two topics I stressed importance on). Do you believe I would be justified in quitting or am I maybe overreacting?
