My husband and I just bought a brand new ipad air on black Friday; This past Monday, I had set it on top of a bookshelf in the playroom at work and walked away for a second--when I turned around, I see my 3 and 4 yr old charges jumping onto beanbags that unfortunately, were touching the bookshelf, which shook it and caused the ipad to fall straight down onto the tiled floor, landing flat on its front and smashing the entire screen. :-( It is totally my fault that I left the ipad in such a precarious spot. [I had it in there in the first place b/c I was looking up directions to make party hats for the kids for NYE!) my question is: would you, as an employer, feel responsible to shoulder some of the "blame" and repair cost? Or would you, as a nanny, expect this? I wasnt really expecting them to, but my bosses have said to let them know about the status of the repair (when I find out what the deal is going to be to fix it) and have since asked twice (on Tue and Wed) about it. I only just found out yesterday that it will be $305 to "fix" (aka possibly replace...it's up to Apple and if they deem it fixable when they get it). However, MB/DB have not asked about it since then, nor have I brought it up. Since i dont necessarily think it's their responsibility to help pay for it (am I wrong in thinking that?), I feel awkward saying anything now if they dont bring it up first. Should I??
