I would be really shocked if they literally didn't recognize you at all - like no card or little gift.  But I don't think all families even think about a bonus for a nanny.  We don't give bonuses to our kids' teachers either.  I don't get bonuses in my job ever.  Typically, there's "tipping" - so you might give a little extra money to your service people, but nothing so far as a weeks' pay or anything I would call a bonus.  It may just not be on their radar.

You've also only been there 5 months.  It sounds like a lot of nannies say that a "standard" bonus is one week's pay for a nanny that's been there a year.  And finally (and I have no idea obviously from your post), maybe they're not happy with your performance and feel they're already overpaying you?  If you're seeing a bonus as a performance assessment, then well, the writing may be on the wall.

If you're happy with the job and happy with your compensation, then perhaps you could use this as an opportunity to have a performance check-in.  See if there's anything they're unhappy with.  Ask if there's any areas of improvement.  And then see from there.  It seems awfully rash to quit a good job over no holiday bonus when you really have no idea why.[/quote]
