There should be a rule that he doesn't go upstairs to the top/attic floor without you. That means no open invitations, and not asking as he is at the door etc. It means he should be WITH you as you are going upstairs, and there is really never any reason he should be going upstairs with you unless you forgot something up there and wanted to grab it quickly and for some reason didn't want to leave him alone. That Is just bad manners for him to do what he did. He is 4, definitely old enough to know better. The parents really need to talk to him about this. And get you a lock for the door.[/quote]
