[/quote] On a strict legal basis, for a 24 hour shift, you can pay hourly for 16 hours (OT for any hours over 40 in that week) and not pay at all for 8 hours of sleep time. This assumes that no duties needed to be done during sleep time. If that's not the case, you have to pay for the time she was awake and working. Most people don't do it that way, but, it often comes out better for the nanny to do a flat overnight rate.[/quote]
