Haha! Thanks guys!! Needed a little vent this morning :) Love my MB&DB but DB can be a little messy when it's his turn in the nursery!! I kindly mentioned to him that leaving dirty stuff on the changing table for when I get there isn't really cool! Baby is down for a nap, house is picked up, baby laundry is done and put away, and I have a whole 15 minutes of ipad and lunch time for me before waking the baby to feed her and and picking up her 3,5,and6 year old sisters at school! Yep, 4 girls! :) I really do love being a nanny, I have an awesome job! Happy Friday!!
Funny you mention DB's turn in the nursery! My first thought upon reading your original post is that the baby woke Dad up from a deep sleep and he got flustered by the crying. My DH, who is highly competent and accomplished in every other aspect of his life, has left similar messes at our house--including on weekends when the mess sits for me rather than the nanny. Yes, it drives me nuts. Yes, he hears about it from me. But bottom line, nannies, is that you should try not to be so quick to conclude that you are being disrespected. This is about the male inability to multitask in the face of a screaming baby FAR MORE SO than it is about the parents' attitude toward the nanny. Don't be so quick to offend!
15:13 here. If it had been DB in my situation I would have laughed it off at the picture of him trying to deal with a blow-out diaper at 5:30am. Then I would have been impressed that he actually tried to soak the pjs in the sink. DB, while easily flustered with any baby-related duties, was a great guy who was actually very clean and never left a mess for anyone. MB on the other hand was a disaster. She regularly/daily left messes for others to clean up. She'd make herself lunch and leave all the ingredients and dishes out for someone else to take care of...not in my job description according to our work agreement, or take half the baby's toys out and strew them all over the house while they hopped from room to room playing and later that day ask me where one specific toy was b/c she couldn't be bothered to pick up anything so that it could easily be found again. The list could go on and on. One day I brought up some of my concerns and she had the audacity to tell me that she was under the impression this was a teamwork situation. I let her know we must have different definitions of teamwork b/c mine didn't include one person making the mess and a completely different person being expected to clean up the mess. So there are times we can be quick to conclude we are being disrespected when it's a pattern of behavior. One crazy situation is not cause for concern or rush to judgment, but daily incidences tell a different story.
