Today I took my charge on a hike, it was pretty hot out so he got a bit sweaty. His hair is longer his bangs got stuck to his forehead. He got a bit cranky, and was annoyed with having to repeatedly push his hair back. I said "ok, next time we go on a hike we can bring a hair tie or a head band so you can push your hair back". He said he didn't have one, so I said "ok, let's ask Mom if she can pick you up one?". Easy enough compromise. I'm not referring to headbands that are reserved for little girls, I mean a unisex sweatband anyone can wear to push their hair back when exercising.

When MB got home, he asked her if she could buy him a sweat/hair band for our next hike. Since he likes his hair longer, MB doesn't cut it that often (I think it might be for personal or religious reasons?). She gave him a swift no and laughed it off. It was pretty clear it wasn't up for discussion. MB is *very* left-wing, so I can't see her saying headbands are reserved for girls or anything.

I'm just wondering why? Like, what are the possible reasons? It just seemed a little weird. Any insight? I thought it was a relatively simple solution.[/quote]
