We have cameras. I'm not interested in hearing comments about how can I leave my children with someone I don't trust. I DO trust my nanny to keep my children safe. I'm not worried about abuse. We had one nanny who had great references, everyone said she was really sweet etc. Well she was really sweet when I was around but she was really impatient with my 2 year old when I wasn't around. She loved the baby but clearly didn't like my 2 year old but she never showed it when I was around. She kept him safe but i want more than that in a nanny and I would never have known without the cameras. I never even look at the cameras now because I know our current nanny is fantastic with the children. I know this was totally off the topic but OP - if I worked at home I would NOT have cameras.
+1. Cameras are not strictly about catching abuse. For many parents, they are more about assessing whether a nanny is mediocre or great. Everyone talks a good game in interviews, but without oversight, it is not always possible to know whether a nanny has a secret soap opera or Iphone habit or a short fuse.
