I would consider the following when interviewing/hiring someone:

* Either creating a  schedule prior to or creating one with your new hire

*Giving a weekly gas allowance or providing a vehicle

*Consider that when kids are out of school or you go on vacation, this will interrupt your caregiver's salary, so discuss this and consider paying a flat rate per week regardless of days used

*Do have the new caregiver sign a contract that includes expectations and detailed rate and job description

* Discuss any habits your children have(social, behavioral, spiritual, intellectual, etc.) with caregiver and be willing and ready to receive feedback

*establish boundaries prior to start date so that caregiver and child know who ultimate authority is
