I am in the process of starting a babysitting referral agency, and would like honest feedback from parents as to what it is they would be looking for at a babysitting referral agency that would get them to sign up? I have been a full-time nanny for several years, and currently work full-time with two families (nanny-share). Over the years I have done the occasional "date-night" babysitting for families, and now have established a great relationship with a number of families that contact me regularly to babysit, and a lot of it is last minute babysitting. I'm not interested in doing this for money, but only because working with children and families is something that I truly love doing. For now I'm wanting to target families who need the "last minute" babysitter, date-night, dog sitting for the weekend, not the full-time nanny. I'm not interested in charging a ridiculous amount of money, especially where we have access to Sittercity, and Care.com, but I want to be different in what services I offer. I was thinking of offering a baby proofing service where I would go to a family home and help new parents get ready for when they bring home a new baby, or if their baby is getting ready to walk. I know I mentioned Sittercity, and Care.com, and I am very familiar with how those services work and I know it can be successful. The one thing I would want that would set me apart from those websites would be the personal interaction with a person. The idea I have in mind for my referral agency would be the parents peace of mind that they are calling me about what they are looking for, instead of just sending a message online and either "accepting, or declining" a candidate I would send them profiles of my babysitters directly. I would greatly appreciate parents input. Thanks!
