I am a 24hr nanny M-F, and they have a weekend 24hr nanny. I earn around $325 a day or 85k a year. I have done this for 8 months now in NYC, and I know my pay is severly low. A 24hr nanny is a supreme luxury, and should be compinsated as such. I am a subsistute parent, I am the one one planning what classes are appropriate, taking to doctor appointments, waking up a dozen times when the child is sick. I am raising the child. Currently I work all holidays with no extra compensation, and I get only 2 weeks vacation. I have to tell you that this schedule is creating severe burnout! On weekends all I seem to do is catch up on sleep and errands what I can't do during the week. I am giving up my life for not great pay. I think a 4 day on, 4 day off schedule would be much better. And other 24hr nannies on the UES make around $500 a day.
Do you live out on the weekends? What is the norm when it comes to 24hr nannies, one goes home and the other comes in or are there separate spaces for each nanny?
It varies, it can depend on the space in the home. Some have you live-out when off, some have rooms for each nanny. Some will have a guest house and the "off" nanny stays there while the "on" nanny stays in a room in the main house. Sometimes you have to pay for your own separate apartment, sometimes the family will have one for you. Pay will reflect these different options.
