I am actually meeting Grandma for the first time this afternoon! She is coming in for 10 days and I was kind of dreading it! This makes me feel better! I have not had the best grandma experiences with my last 3 families.... My charge is only 3 months old so this should be interesting :) MB is awesome and I know she will make sure I can keep up with our routine and go about my day with baby ;)
Good luck, I hope it goes great! One thing I find that helps when you're first meeting grandparents is to kind of defer to them when possible? Obviously you have spent more time with the child, have a routine, and so on, but they will be the more important person in the child's life overall. So for example if grandma suggests we go to the park, I will say, "Oh, LO usually goes down for a nap around 10am, but we could adjust his schedule today if you like!" and 9/10 times she says "oh no no, let's keep him on his schedule - you let me know when would be best to go out." I also approach every grandparent visit with the cheerful acceptance that schedules, routines, and dietary structures are going out the window while she's here and it is my job to enjoy the time and then get him back on track after she leaves.
