You absolutely deserve to lose your job over this based on your actions following the incident. I am appalled that you feel it is ok to convince a child to lie (by omission) to his parents. I hope he does tell his parents what happened (and it will likely come out at some point since he's 5) and they fire you on the spot. You have no business working with children if you aren't willing to take responsibility for your mistakes and actively engage children in lying to their parents. [/quote]
