Nanny in LA, I earn $30/hr for two kids. You are under paid and what they are doing is illegal. Call the labor board.
Thank you, can i still contact labor board even though I'm under the table basically? would i get introuble?
I find it crazy that 2 people who work for the sheriff's department are NOT paying at least minimum wage, and are also paying under the table! I would tell them that you need at least min. wage and if they can't do that, they I would go ahead and report them. They will get into trouble for both issues. They should know better! You are being taken advantage of and I doubt you would get into any serious trouble over it. If anything, you might have to report your income from them for prior years if you didn't report it already and pay your back income taxes, and they would have to do the back taxes for employer stuff AND your share of those taxes since they didn't do it originally.
