I think you're on the right track price-wise. I'd suggest $16-18/hr for the first child, moving to $20-22/hr ($10-12 per family) when both babies are present. Sharing hosting responsibilities brings its own host of problems - are you going to have four high chairs, or drag the two back and forth between your houses? Where will your double stroller remain? Can both babies adapt to sleeping in a different place regularly? Typically one family hosts, and that is what I'd recommend, but I trust you've thought through the many complications - however, definitely talk to the nannies you're interviewing about this and make sure she thinks it's workable. Make sure you and the other parents on the same page in terms of sleep training in particular, too - and discipline if you expect this share to last for a couple of years.
Yes, I agree switching the host home makes it more difficult. If you want to switch off, I would recommend doing it a few months at a time. Like do the first 3-6 months at one home, then switch. This would be good if you wanted each family to try and have equal wear and tear on the homes, be able to get a break from having all the extra share stuff at your house all the time. One family might host and then realize after the other family starts their 3+ months that the benefits were not a huge difference to them and they would rather just stay the non-host family from then on forward. Keeping it at a length of time that would allow the babies to develop a good routine that doesn't change every week and means you don't have to haul the large items back and forth so much, but will allow a change in scenery to the kids as they get older and become more interested in seeing different things.
