Many nannies come here with college degrees from their home countries. A nanny job is an easy first job for many people and then they stick with it or use it to make connections. My childhood nanny was doing a part-time business program. He is now an executive at a major global corporation. Our kids' nanny has a college degree. She has been a nanny for 12 years, but as our kids are getting older is furthering her own education and looking into transitioning to a new field. She has made great connections through us and the prior families and we are all happy to help her with her next step. That being said, a well qualified nanny can make more money than entry level jobs in many fields. Heck, we pay our nanny more than I made my first year out of law school. And that wasn't all that long ago.[/quote]
