I am a nanny and I took a new position a month ago out of state. The family offer me 2 months of housing in their home the time to find an apartment. I came for a trial and found some apartment on my budget and now I couldn’t find nothing but I have one month left. However, all the apartments that I found are twice my budget and the ones I found are almost 2h driving which I can’t do for a start time at 7am. They offer me to be a live in which I’m not comfortable for my age and the area is far from the city. I won’t have no life and they also have some comments that I know it won’t work for me. Now I want to quit I know they will be upset and the agency as well.
Any suggestions please? |
You don’t have to stay if you’re not comfortable regardless what they both will think |
You either live in or find an apartment or house with some roomates. |
Since you never agreed to be a live-in, then you have every right to decline that offer.
Because being a live-in Nanny is just not for everyone. Just tell both the family as well as the agency that you could not find a suitable apartment nearby for the amount of rent that you are able to afford so that unfortunately you will be unable to stay w/this position. ![]() Also, since you are on a trial period you can also just tell the agency it wasn’t a good match. Wishing you all the best OP! |
+ 1 I totally agree with this. |
Thank you all |
What's wrong with living in with them for now?
I mean until you can save up and get a place closer to work ... I mean, it allows you to save money by having no rent ... |
You should have looked into this before agreeing to relocate.
It sucks to quit but give them plenty of notice and hopefully they can find someone else. |
