Moving out of area in 5 months, but need a new job RSS feed

Anonymous
The family I've been with for almost a year is moving out of the area next month, leaving me without a job. Normally I would look for another position, no problem! Butttt my husband and I are moving at the end of the year, and when I tell potential families this, they so far have been worried about not having me be long-term (which I do understand). My question: what would you do in this situation? They all ask if I'm planning on being around at least for the next year, and I won't lie. So do I have any other options here?

Summer nanny!

Summer nanny and then maybe a temp nanny with an agency?

I concur.

A summer nanny would be ideal if it's not too late to secure a position.

Then afterward, probably a temp nanny until the holidays perhaps.

Keeping my fingers crossed you find what you are looking for! Good luck.

Please post some contact information. I'll be looking for a temp nanny from early October through December (the end time isn't firm yet), when I'm going to be relocating. If we click, it might be a good match of needs. (Newborn - I am due in July, expect to go back to work the first week of October.)

Thank you for posting but unfortunately I'm not in the DC area at all I hope you find someone; sounds like it would be a good gig for someone temporarily!

Maybe try to find a nanny who needs to take a maternity leave, and fill in for the duration?

I've been looking with no success so far...everyone I speak to wants a longer commitment. I'm in the Bay Area, and there are tons of jobs...just not a lot that will be happy with only 5 months availability.

I tried to sign up for some on call nanny agencies, but apparently in California I have to be on the Trustline registry in order to work as an on call nanny for an actual agency, and it takes months to be registered. Ugh.
