Hello. I need to hire a nanny to care for my son on monday, wednesday, and friday for 9 hours each day. What are the next steps once I find a nanny? I know I need to set up payroll but do I need to draft a contract also? I have posted an ad on care.com and will be interviewing nannies soon. Can anyone provide the next steps once I find a nanny I want to hire? I really appreciate any advice you have to offer. Thank you. |
Yes, you need a contract. You also need to verify ability to work and set up an EIN. Because an EIN takes time, you might want to start that process immediately. You need one EIN for federal, a different one for state. |
Also lay out all your rules and regulations with what your expectations are, and also listen to the Nanny's response. Discuss details on pay discipline activities and take into consideration the nanny's side also. Good luck on your search. |
Please do a search on this site. |
I've found a good article about how to find and hire a trustworthy and reliable nanny. I think it will be useful for you: https://goo.gl/2Ljcp6 |
Here is the link to GTM Payroll Services' "Nanny Tax Guide" in case you find this to be helpful: http://gtm.com/household/resource-center/nanny-tax-salary-guide/.
We can also provide a free consultation to educate you on your obligations as a household employer if interested. Best of luck! |
