I was walking with my son this morning and a garbage truck drove by. He said "What's that smell?" I told him it's the garbage truck. I said "If you don't learn your ABCs and reading, you will get a job as a garbage truck and get just a little bit of money. If you study hard, you can have a big desk next to the big window in a tall building like daddy where everything is clean and make lots of money."
Nannies, if you don't like your MBs or what you are getting paid as nannies, go get yourself an education and do something else. You go out and get that job that MBs have that pays $100k. Then you can go out and hire a nanny and pay whatever you think they deserve. |
Right.... just get an education and make $100k as a nanny just like that. Whatever you say |
All MBs did it and are paying you with it. If you think you are as good as MB and know just as well as MB, why don't you. |
Shut the hell up. There wouldn't be such high demand for nannies if you old women didn't rely on nannies to raise your children. A bunch of you moms are nothing but dead beat egg donors. Spit them out and you're done with them. F.Y.I - Children are humans, not an accessory. Get a clue and appreciate the people who are raising your children. |
Are you telling me to shut up? I make more than my husband and yes, I make way more than $6 figures. To what you said, OK. You keep living your life your way. |
why can't we nanny because we love it? and why does being a nanny mean we deserve only $10?
I'm not a nanny for the money (obviously!) and don't expect insane wages, but I do expect to work with families that pay me for the excellent care I give, which is more than $10/hr |
Don't rise to the bait everyone. |
Yeah, what a dumb ass she is. |
Driving a garbage truck is honest work. Not a bad salary. http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Garbage_Truck_Driver/Hourly_Rate |
Ok. so all of a sudden $10 and $16 are OK salaries or anyone. |
I've heard garbage men make a really really good wage. Likely more than new lawyers or doctors make, and probably more than some nannies.
Of course, they make good money because it's such a denigrated job, as OP points out. So my question for OP is: What the hell would you do if all the garbage men, cleaning people, fast food workers, nannies, and other "blue collar" workers decided to stop working and go back to college to prepare to earn $100,000/year? <crickets> |
I've been a live in nanny for 15 years. I have a masters degree in ece. I make roughly 40k per year as a 24 hr live in nanny. I have no expenses as my employers pay my cell phone and health insurance. I get on average 3-4 weeks vacation per year. I drive very nice vehicles my employers own. I've been able to save over my nanny career roughly 800,000. ( this includes all assets including retirement and home value) I own a home outright which I've never lived in. I simply use it as a rental property and another way to generate income. I've worked for some very wealthy families over the years but I have also worked for families that are struggling. Some of the lower income families that I've worked for have far less then I do interns of net worth
Doing a job that I love is what's most important. The best advice I've ever been given was from my high school government teacher. He said pick a career you love, the money will come. Boy was he right. I'm so proud to be a nanny. |
Dream on.. |
My goal is 1 million by the time I'm 35.. I have a little less then 3 years before I turn 36. I'm going to try and get to 1 million before I'm 36. It's all about self control. I simply don't spend my own money unless I have to. |
$100K really isn't that much. Perhaps you should focus more on not turning your kid into a raging a**hole than on what trash collectors and nannies make. |
