Are Nanny Rates Dropping in Our Area Too?

On a NYC (Facebook) nannies group there was this post:
"I have noticed over the last couple months that Craigslist, Care.com, and even some NYC Agencies have been posting jobs with lower nanny salaries than usual. Do you think this is a new trend, or a temporary blip? And these jobs also tend to ask for a nanny to have 5+ years experience, 4 year college degree (preferably in education), and to be paid on the books (this is good). These jobs are paying $12-20. This is compared to other major nanny markets like LA, San Francisco, and DC that are generally offering $18-25 for nannies with those same qualifications. Some of us live and work in this insanely expensive city, with employers that are very demanding in so many aspects, it's hard to see our profession not respected and compensated fairly." Do you think this is happening in the DC area too? |

| There might be some families looking for temporary winter break coverage and those temp jobs may not be paying very well - just a thought |

| Some agencies don't screen out potential clients based on whether they can actually **afford** nanny care, so that might be part of the issue. |

| I don't think it's true at all. Some Mb's and agencies like to artificiality deflate wages. |

| My salary continues to rise, guess I have nothing to worry about because I'm actually good at my job unlike the rest of DCUM nannies. |
