*got, not git. |
I started in Jan 2013 with my current NF so by dec I had been there a year and I got 2 weeks pay for a bonus. I think that 1 week is a very nice bonus to someone who has been with you only a few months. If you plan on having your nanny long term I think it's a great sign of goodwill. However I DO NOT think as a nanny that it's necessary to give a full week after only a few months and that half a weeks pay is definitely acceptable. You may even consider giving her the other half on her bday depending on when that is with the caveat that it's the rest of her holiday bonus, and that you are so happy that she's with your family. |
Our 2 cents worth.
Bear in mind we only see the 'declared' bonuses - ones that are taxed. That surely skews our experience. Whatever you do or don't do, the "Thank you" is an important part of the transaction! http://www.info.4nannytaxes.com/blog-0/bid/104185/Holiday-Tipping-Ideas-for-Employers-of-Nannies-and-Caregivers |
Thanks Kathy, was hoping you'd chime in on this one! |
+1. Btw, the link to the irs for employer gifts goes to an empty page. |
Not to mention the unabashed snobbery from those who are in the purest terms the "hired help." |
Are you deliberately being ironic or just joking? |
Two weeks? Seriously? I have never heard of that. |
I am a nanny and am paid well. I get the standard benefits. I do not get a holiday bonus or extra time off. I buy all three of these children Christmas and birthday presents. It upsets me that they don't give me a bonus. |
