Has anyone heard about the awful book 'How to train up a child' by the Pearls? Apparently it is in the news a lot because it is so harsh to the extreme children are dying!
does anyone here use this method? while I think some of the training can be useful and want to see others opinions. |
What does it involve? If children are actually dying I can't imagine any part of it would be good or useful. |
How in the world can you think any of that is useful? I really hope you're a troll because that is sick and twisted. |
Thanks for that link. There's a change.org petition to ban these books from Amazon. I wish they could do more than that, though... |
OP- I obviously do not mean the hitting of infants or the starvation but some of the non violent training types are. |
Example? Everything I saw was violent. |
Even if there was one sentence in the whole book that was positive, it wouldn't negate the basic premise that they are advocating. These people are monsters (funny that they are "Christian") and are becoming very wealthy off of these atrocities. It is dispicable and, frankly, disgusting that OP is brining it up here. |
OP- Well I think it is disgusting that you are not grown up to skip a thread if you don't like it. I was asking a simple question. |
The people who write these books use punishment to cow children into obeying their parents. They encourage parents to bully and beat their kids, and I see nothing useful in their approach at all.
I like to hide these books, if I find them in the "Parenting" section of a bookstore. Usually I hide them in the "sex" section. I figure anyone looking for the Pearl's books won't go near anything to do with sex. |
You were asking, presumably as a child are provider, if there was any validity to a disciplinary form that is mainly based on physical and emotional abuse and fear. That is disgusting. And people like you who are brining attention to this book in a way that could be construed as at all positive should be called out, not ignored. |
I think the bolded part is the problem with your post. There was not one single thing that I could see that would be "useful" from that article or their method. |
Great idea. I'm going to do this, too. |
Ugh. Followed the link PP gave - its abusive. Period. |
While I understand why you do this, I think it's really rude to the workers at the bookstore. Makes things difficult for them. |
