What they’re doing is legal and 10% is generous.
What were your hours when you started and what are they now? Them
Dropping hours doesn’t seem fair but you are also welcome to look for something with more hours.
I would give her a month notice at least if she’s been with you for years.
And yes a bonus would be nice, not required but nice.
It is time to separate from our wonderful, long-term nanny. She started working with us many years ago full-time. Now she splits her time with us and another job. With our oldest in college, our second going to college, and our youngest old enough to not need a nanny, it's really time to say goodbye. We have been talking about this one and off with her for the last year, stating that the time would be soon. We have kept her longer than we needed her help, largely as we were concerned that it would be hard for her to find a job as flexible as the hours that we provided. But, our needs now are different (and I'd like to put the money toward college expenses). Do we give a "good bye" bonus? How much notice? Thoughts?
What is your hourly pay rate
People are cheap!

Former AP here (not Brazilian).

Host families should realize that 0% of us come to the US for the children.
That doesn't mean we don't like babysitting but we come for other reasons.
Working on our English, seeing a new country, living a new experience etc.
Yes, some come to get a husband as well.
I'd leave for more hours.
Put yourself first.

Nanny.
I would absolutely pay for this and likely buy her plane ticket as well with my miles as a gesture of good will.
Doesn't she have PTO to use?
Yes, that's fair and standard. Nannies are hourly employees per the FLSA and can't be salaried. So giving you a raise on your hourly rate is expected. I'm assuming they did it in hopes of offsetting the reduction of hours. If the lessening of hours means that overall annualized pay no longer is feasible for you, time to start looking for a supplemental PT job or new FT one. Best of luck!
Is he teething?
What does the contract say? I don't see how you have an obligation to pay unless it's in the contract. I never had an expectation of getting paid when I didn't work.
We paid an average of 40+ days off every year because our nanny had a million reasons why she couldn’t be at work, everyone will tell you to pay but to be honest a lot this is up to you.

We always paid out because she was a great nanny but also because we didn’t want to go through the hassle of finding someone new. Good childcare is hard to come by and we paid a lot for the service.
I have an au pair for this because I know it’s hard to find part time care. It’s our single biggest expense as a family because keeping those girls happy is a full time job.
These responses are kind of wild to me. I don’t allow my kids TV when the nanny is watching them because I expect her to interact with them. My kids are older and they need a screen time break. I’m out of the house 12 hours a day (nanny works between 9 and 3 hours depending on school time), when I get home I need to relax myself in peace and the kids have tablet time. A nanny is totally welcome not to work for me over this, but I don’t know what I am paying her for if the kid is parked in front of the TV all day. My husband works from home, he could probably just park the kids in front of the TV himself and ignore them all day and we could save a ton of money.

That said, my kids are not 3 or 4. They will leave a nanny alone to do whatever she needs to do, like go to the bathroom or eat or mental health break. She can give my kids an activity and they can do it. Still we had nannies who watched the kids at 3-4 and they didn’t park them in front of TVs.
