My bias isn’t “showing, Sherlock, I actually laid it out in clear and unmistakable English words! |

Let's do background to parents too! Many of them hide things like guns and are awful. You can't trust anybody these days.
I also wanna know if they have anything, especially hiv. See that just shows more ignorance and fear. Even if parents makes mistakes or nannies like a bad credit? Many wants to keep moving on and try to do better if they are given the opportunity. A person who didn't commit any crime doesn't mean it's true and is a good person. Being a bigot, racist, making worse racial inequality it's just as awful like a criminal. Making worse the communities. Being smart doesn't mean you're a good person. See the government full of them? The middle class fights the poor while the ultra rich gets richer and is wrong |
| Why not ask the parents if they have pepper spray or mace? Also, prescription meds and opiates just in case of accidental overdose. You can never be too cautious with little ones around. |
Well, yeah. However 6000 children a year aren’t killed with pepper spray. Mace is illegal and prescription drugs are in child-proof bottles. Too bad firearms don’t have child-proof guards... Stop embarrassing yourself, PP. Seriously. |
| I’m all for credit checks for nannies and parents. |
| I am comfortable with a background check, like fingerprints. but credit check? no thanks. nannies should ask for a credit check from the parents. I wanna know if you can pay me and you wanna know if I'm a psycho or not. NEXT. |
Both parties should do credit checks. |
If you can possibly believe it, there have been discussions on this forum about nannies being required to tell their potential employer which prescription drugs they take. Of course, in turn, nannies must require the same of the employer. I hope nannies are sharing on some forum of their own who the whacko employers are out there. |

Credit card? I would just go with another family
Some parents are too crazy |

Perhaps it’s the level of my employment but I’ve always had a full background and credit check done.
Also a lot of my local agencies run checks as well. Credit checks by employers or potential employers aren’t like those that are done by CC or car dealership. They won’t get your exact credit score nor any personal information. It also won’t go against your credit (ding your credit). I personally make sure to get copies of any background check that is done and keep it in my portfolio for future employment (even though it’s out of date). I also have Safetypin which does all background including mental check. I can keep the safetypin on my resume and in my portfolio. It’s an up to date background check that is run every time you enter your own personal code. I’ve had employers hire private investigators, run every check known, full on questions from lawyers and more. As my primary residence is California I also have Trustline but that’s only good for that state so I’d rather have an all over check in addition, as my employers can live anywhere in any country. I work for people with fully staffed homes, security and more. I’d rather be more safe then sorry. And yes I check on them - I google employers, ask agencies about them, speak to other staff and go into detailed questions with the other nannies in the home. I always do a two week trial that both of us agree to so if either party can back out the if needed. I’ve been a nanny for 35 yrs and have work for 4 families (including my current family) in that time with no gaps between employment. |
