Besides taking excellent care of the babies, she does extra things that we never asked her to do, but are so helpful and appreciated.

Some examples-

She makes all their baby food from scratch and leaves their meals all prepared/labeled in the fridge over the weekend.

She keeps all of their supplies stocked at all times. I've never run out of diapers or had an empty wipe container since she started.

She makes all their bottles for the day and leaves them in the fridge as well.

She never leaves a dirty bottle for us to clean. She always washes and sterilizes the last 3 bedtime bottles before leaving.

She empties the diaper genie every single day.

She researches activities for the babies and takes them on outings to things like library story time every day.

She's very flexible and has come in early and stayed late whenever we have asked her. She's also worked on a weekend when we were in a bind.

We are so happy to have her and plan on giving her a very generous bonus.

Amazing! I had no idea a nanny could do so much and care for multiple babies. I thought I had a great nanny back then but clearly she was just average.

Some nannies just can't be still for a minute, just like some parents. They all have their own challenges. No one is exempt.

Your nanny was below average. Not to dismiss the great work that PP's nanny is doing for her, but this stuff should be standard even with multiples.

Spend a few days caring for triplets by yourself, then come back and talk to us about standard expectations. With triplets, if every has been adequately fed, changed, and kept clean, slept enough, and no one got hurt, its a good day. If on top of that your nanny manages to clean bottles, prep all food and bottles for the day, and clean up after them, she is a wonderful nanny and certainly worth a bonus. FYI, statements that begin with "Not to blah blah blah" typically do the very thing they said they wouldn't.

I have cared for multiples, for the past 3 years.
If you were capable of comprehending what you are reading before exploding, you would have seen that I said "not to dismiss the great work" of the PP's nanny and she absolutely deserves whatever bonus PP decides to give her. Seriously though, you think that emptying the diaper genie and washing bottles is somehow above average? You are the kind of nanny who makes the rest of us look lazy and entitled. Just keeping the kids alive IS NOT enough, and is not that difficult if you have a modicum of expertise (which I am hoping nannies of multiples have) in your field. I'm glad that PP is so grateful for her nanny, but the fact that she does all of this doesn't make nannies who don't merely "average", it makes them bad at their job.

I'm the one who posted about my nanny to our triplets. I have a hard time believing you have cared for infant triplets if you think that caring for 3 babies is easy and all the things our nanny does is just standard. I just gave some examples of things she's done, but by no means was it a complete list.

What my husband and I really appreciate is that we haven't had to tell her to do anything, she's just done everything from day 1. She takes iniative and always finds things to do from rotating their clothing to sterilizing all their toys weekly. We interviewed about 25 nannies and she was the only one who was willing and excited to make their baby food. We've also had other nannies/sitters help out on the weekends who leave do things like the diaper genie full or all the bottles they fed the babies dirty and run out the door as soon as they are off the clock.

When our little girl ended up in the hospital from dehydration over the weekend because they had the flu, our nanny spent countless hours getting fluids into the boys so that they wouldn't end up in the hospital as well. They wouldn't drink their bottles because of the congestion, so she sat there with each baby using a medicine dropper getting them to drink their formula and pedialyte.

PP, your nanny sounds like a dream. Even at top dollar, it's really difficult to find someone who takes initiative like that. Most do need to be told exactly what to do and even then instructions are not always followed.

The "dream" triplet nanny is a perfect example of an actual nanny, for those of you who believe you hired a nanny, but didn't.

What nanny wouldn't be eager to make puréed baby food?

Thank you! This is what I have been trying to get at. It is a sad state of affairs when a nanny who actually just does her job is considered exceptional. Nannies of multiples shouldn't be exempt from the same standards as other nannies. Yes, it is more work but, presumably, you are paid much more and should be a higher caliber of nanny.

Funny how most people you know, want to have a nanny or be a nanny, and they don't even know what a nanny is.
