I graduated from UCLA (in Westwood), Idiot, and live in Beverly Hills. I walk far farther in my nanny job than 1.2 miles twice a day. |
| the difference between nyc and la is that walking is expected in new york and in la everyone drives. some cities are walkable and some just aren't. you can request whatever you want from your nanny, but if what you're asking isn't as desirable as what the next employer is, you aren't likely to attract the candidate you want-just as you can offer $10 an hour. if you're asking her to push a stroller around the city and another employer is offering a car to shuttle the kids around in, it is unlikely that she is going to go with you guys unless you're offering awesome perks. |

A lot of undocumented nannies cannot drive. Our next door neighbor's nanny doesn't drive.
.6 miles each way (4 times a day) is no big deal. That is about ten blocks. |
[b] Good for you, idiot. I also graduated from UCLA and live in West Hollywood. Do you want a prize? Write back in august. |
| You wouldn't take a child outside if it was 85 degrees? I won't get in the pool if it's below that. When it's not super humid, 85 is lovely. Even when it is, it isn't dangerous! |
No prize - just admit that you are a wimp. You seriously would not walk around Westwood at 3pm in August and September?!! How did you get across campus? |
I’m guessing this is supposed to be addressed to me? Unsure, but I am the one who mentioned not taking the child out of its over 85. I also said that it was the parents decision. Mind you, I find over 85 unpleasant, but as long as we are doing water-related activities, I wouldn’t mind being outside in 85-90 degree weather. I definitely wouldn’t want to be walking in it, though. I’m just not a outdoorsy summery kinda girl, but I’ll do it for my charge
