I like my boss. She is an amazing lady who is run into the ground by two wee ones who are still struggling to STTN. I would have worked and given her the day to rest or get some alone time, knowing full well that she will do something kind in return. However, some bosses aren't so nice. I do believe in taking the high road and after two paid days ff, would have worked if needed. Obviously a contract is a contract, but there's nothing wrong with some kindness, either. After 5 days with any kids, as much as I love em, I'd want some me time, too!

Well it is unfortunate that this particular MB doesn't inspire that kind of good will in her employee. If you treat your nanny like a commodity all year, giving the minimum your agreement allows and demanding everything you feel entitled to, your employee isn't going to go to bat for you. I'm sure if OPs MB had come to her humbly, admitting that the contract entitled her to this day off, but that she needs the break, perhaps offering another day off in the future, or time and a half for the day. But she didn't. She chucked the agreement aside and made demands. No wonder OP doesn't to help her.
