Hey everyone..
We are a family of 4 (2 Adults, 1 almost 7 year old, 1 almost 2 year old) with 2 cats. We have to relocate to DMV area for work by July end. We are struggling to figure out where to rent for the first 2 years. My wife would need to be in office 3 days a week at least. Given that, we are also trying to figure out help with what we will do with the kids. What are nanny rates around Bethesda if we need a FT one who also will just look over our son after school (snacks, play time)? If anyone has nanny recommendations, please share. We are looking to start mid-July. Any help is appreciated. |

The Real Estate forum will be able to provide more information for where to live:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/forums/show/50.page In your post, I'd clarify your needs: budget, townhouse/house/apt, how many bedrooms/bathrooms, etc. You say your wife will need to be in office, but we don't know where her office is. We also don't know what a reasonable commute is for her. Under 30 minutes? Under an hour? Car vs metro?
Nanny wise: what does full time mean to you? What hours are you looking for? Will you need more than 40 hours per week? If so, you'll need to factor in overtime pay. I'm going off the assumption that you plan on paying taxes and doing things legally. Will the nanny need to drive to pick up the older child? If so, plan on paying the IRS rate for reimbursement for mileage. How many hours daily will the nanny be watching both children? Keep in mind other days -- snow days, holidays, teacher work days, summer break, etc. If she'll be responsible for both, take that into consideration for pay. |

I am a nanny in Bethesda, a full-time nanny makes $30/hour, but if you only need afternoons, rate changes for om $35-$40. (Weekdays), weekends are the same rate $30/hour, but highschool babysitter makes $20/hour
You can join to nextdoor website, or your neighborhood listserv to find a nanny. Bethesda is a wonderful place to live, we have lots of playgrounds. I also know one family will move to South Carolina at the end of June, you can rent their house. It is in Chevy Chase walking distance to Bethesda metro. If you can provide an email address, I can give all the information. All the best! |
| If you leave an email address I'd be happy to send my information. |

Hi! I highly recommend checking out Kensington, Chevy Chase Rock Creek Hills area, Rosemary Hills Silver Spring, or Rockville for 'more' affordable places with very easy commutes Bethesda.
I'm the poster from this post - https://www.dcurbanmom.com/nanny-forum/posts/list/383783.page. I'd be glad to keep Francoise on until you need her until you are ready in July if interested. She has experience working with all ages and can easily pick your oldest up from school as part of the job requirements. Francoise truly is awesome and comes with various references. I'd be glad to chat more if interested; please email me at drobnicksmith at gmail dot com. |
