Where to find a high quality nanny RSS feed

Hello! We are looking for a great nanny to take care of our six month old baby.

We have interviewed many nannies from facebook groups, referred by other families, nextdoor, here, etc, and we keep being disappointed. We seem to be not getting a good group of candidates, even though we have a pretty decent compensation package (vacation, holidays, guaranteed hours, $30/hr for one baby and no housekeeping, etc).

Where do high quality nannies look for jobs? How can we connect with them? Agencies seem ridiculously expensive so we'd rather not go that route.

Thanks!

What do you consider high quality? You need to probably pay more.

Hello I hope you’re doing good. I am sorry about what you’re experienced. I am a babysitter with experiences and I would be happy to help you if you’re still in need.

Good morning. I posted the below information earlier to this employer forum in regards to our nanny who we are no longer in need of. Based on your description, I think this would be a good match. As noted below, please contact her directly and as further noted, she comes with strong references.

“Our experienced and capable nanny is available for a full time position as our family is no longer in need of a nanny. She understands what is required for running a high performing and fast paced household, competently performs household manager duties, exceptional organizer, quickly learns children’s personalities, shows initiative, cares for family pets, drives, and cooks/prepares meals. She speaks fluent English, is a citizen, has experience with children of various ages, and may be reached at +1 (571) 385-7121. Strong references. Please contact her directly. Thank you.”

You mean Do you a nanny who has graduated with a Master's degree?

$30hr isn’t what a high quality nanny would work for. That might be the issue.

Op, I work in service industry. We make $30+ an hour with very flexible schedule and no experience needed. We have very hard time finding workers.
The quality of candidates is just not there. We used to get lawyers who needed to pay off student loans and other college graduates. We don't have anyone with college degree right now or anyone will to work.
I had to come out of early retirement just to help out in May. Three of my ex employers are calling me every few months. Not sure if closing the borders is why there are no workers left.
The work ethic I saw in early 2000s, just doesn't exist anymore.

More money doesn’t necessarily mean better.

Why do you keep posting across so many forums trying to get people into the service industry? It's weird.

Op, you have to consider that high quality candidates are doing the same thing- seeking high quality families. They don't want 500 families reaching out to them on Care, Nextdoor, etc. They want to be connected with families who can afford their rates ($32-40hr) and who have already been educated on industry standards, benefits, retention tactics, etc. They want a family to be equally invested in the search to find a great match. Furthermore, high quality nannies have typically worked for HNW, UHNW, and/or HP families who do not have the bandwidth to accept a million reference calls on their behalf. These nannies need to job search in a place where their references can be verified once. The culmination of all the above points is that the candidates you want are searching through agencies.

I (15 years experience, degree in child psychology, several additional certs, bilingual, glowing referenecs, continued education and professional development) and I know similarly from my nannies friends, have not job searched outside of agencies in 10+ years. That is why agencies charge what they do- because they search, find, screen, and then gatekeep the top tier nannies.

Completely disagree. I've browsed some of these "top" agencies bragged about on DCUM. The families and candidate pools are nothing special.

Hi! We are looking for a new home for out nanny! She is outstanding! Please see below

We are looking to help our beloved nanny of 5 years find a new full-time position as the needs of our family have changed. I have recently transitioned to part-time work, and while it’s hard to part ways, we are eager to connect her with another wonderful family who will value her as much as we do.
She has over 20 years of experience caring for children and is truly exceptional — warm, nurturing, dependable, and especially gifted with infants. She lovingly cared for our third baby who had reflux and was very fussy, with incredible patience, calm, and expertise.
She is extremely reliable and trustworthy, which was essential to us as two full-time physicians. She consistently goes above and beyond — helping with family laundry, keeping the children’s areas clean and organized, doing grocery shopping, and even wrapping birthday presents for children’s parties. She has also traveled with our family and was an enormous help during those trips.
She drives and we always felt completely safe with her driving our children. She manages school and activity drop-offs and pick-ups with ease and is fantastic at handling busy schedules and transitions.
She also loves getting the kids outside and helped build a wonderful community of park friends and neighborhood playmates. Most importantly, our children absolutely adore her — and we do too.
Availability: Full-time
Experience: 20+ years of childcare experience, including 5 years with our family
Location: Bethesda, MD / Washington, DC area
Contact:
• Jen Murray – 301-580-0399 / jennifermurray109@gmail.com
• Or contact Lina directly – 240-656-4699
We truly can’t recommend her highly enough — she will be an incredible asset to her next family.
