Refusing to show ID RSS feed

Is this common? The nanny I'd like to work with - before her first day, I asked for a photo ID and proof of address so that I know who young children are going with. And the response was that no, she will not provide this. Is this common?

I wouldn't hire her. She doesn't want you to know who she actually is. I run a background check on every nanny, so this would be a no go for me.

are you a troll, op? Nannies need to be run through all necessary background checks including fingerprinting. This is standard and I do not think you are real, lol

Not normal at all.

The reason why you go through an agency-she has the right to decline your request as she’s prob doing a trial and no need for the ID

As a parent, I would personally feel like this was a red flag as it may mean that she either doesn’t have one or that she is not who she says she is.

I am a Nanny + would think nothing of giving my new NF my picture ID or DL.

Is it really that big of a deal? You have to show your ID to vote, to cashiers at the grocery store, to receptionists at the doctor, to the librarian to get a library card, etc. I mean, she has the “right to decline” as you say, but really there’s no good reason to decline unless the nanny is shady.

Nothing to do with ‘shady’ she is just testing the waters and not fully bought by your ‘offer’ so no need the drama. Need someone? Hire someone else that’s willing g to show her ID plain and simple

You wouldn’t dream of not showing ID the HR of an employer during contracting process. It’s unheard of. Absolutely not ok. Keep looking.

Confused. Wouldn’t they need ID for the I-9? Or is this under the table, in which case what did you expect?
Anonymous
I can see waiting to do I9 and W4 after a working interview or trial day. However, verifying her name with a state ID or license should come before any work…

Lol

No parent asked me that

I'm nice and referred from other families

That's insane. You can't pay her legally without seeing her ID. You can't let her drive your kids without seeing her drivers license.
