Part Time Nanny Rates & Expectations RSS feed

I'm looking for feedback on how realistic my expectations are here -- we will soon be looking for a part time evening nanny for a position which would be 4 nights during the week from about 4:30 - 7:30 pm (though with some flexibility as to the specific start/stop time based on the nanny's needs or preference). We have one toddler in daycare, and the role would include picking him (its about 10 mins from our house), feeding him dinner, and spending some time playing or reading. No household tasks like cleaning or laundry. We'd guarantee payment for 12 hours a week, even if we don't need the nanny the full time each day. We live in an area with lots of nannies (NW DC neighborhood), so I am hoping there may be someone who works nearby during the day who's be interested in picking up this type of position for after their main gig.

Our thought was to offer between 30 to 35 an hour. Does this seem reasonable? Any other feedback on what makes a part time gig like this more or less desirable, would also be helpful. Thank you!

The hourly rate is fine but you are looking for the same uniform everyone else is. 730 is late too.
We have a sitter 330-630 twice a week but the days rotate. We pay less but we are in the burbs. We guarantee 3 hours even if we only need an hour and a half. ( sometimes she drops DD off at an activity and I pick up on my way home)
