Im a first time mom and I used to be a nanny with +10 years of experience. Is it possible to find a family who would accept me to bring my baby? |
Possible? Maybe. Search and see what you find. |
Sure it's possible - if you're willing to accept less than market rate. The whole reason I want a nanny is for my baby to have personalized care. I don't want to worry that if the nanny's baby cries at the same time as mine, it's the nanny's baby getting picked up first, snuggled longer, fed first, etc. |
The problem I would have with this is that you can’t legally be paid less than minimum wage.
Right now, I’m in a share. Our family and another family each pay half the nanny’s wages. $26 per hour for two 1.5 year olds, so each family pays $13 an hour. Theoretically I’d be fine with just paying $13 an hour to a nanny who is also caring for her own baby. But I can’t hire someone for $13 an hour, that’s below minimum wage. |
