Rate for three kids

We have three kids who are 4.5, 2 and 5 months. The 4.5 year old is in school M-Th from 8-2:40 and F from 8-12:30. This will also be her schedule next year. The 2 year old is in school M,W,F from 8-11, but will be in school next year (starting in the fall ) M-F from 8-11.

We are hoping to find someone who can work 9-6 M-F with weeknight OT once or twice per month. Occasional easy meal prep (grilled cheese, boxed mac and cheese, peanutbutter and jelly; would not feed kids dinner or be responsible for making dinner), would need to bathe all three kids daily, do school pick up, and drive kids to activities. Would give two weeks pay as bonus plus $250 for birthday plus generous vacation (5 weeks + federal holidays + unlimited sick days). We are hoping to pay around $27 or $28 per hour. Is that reasonable?

If I'm being totally honest with you, you aren't going to attract high quality candidates because they can easily get that pay and likely higher for one baby.

I truly hope you find someone at that rate, just for 1 child I’m getting $30(40 hours/weekly guaranteed) plus $400 health ins. stipend, all holidays paid unlimited sick time and 6 weeks of PTO( 4 weeks of my choice and the other two weeks Spring break and Christmas)Car provided by employer as I don’t use my car to drive the child.

Five weeks vacation pay is awesome, I think you’ll find someone be careful with offering unlimited sick days though. Make sure you ask prior family how much they used per year approx.

I think a huge factor that needs to be considered here would also be what part of the country you are located in.

Many people forget this is a mitigating factor in how to pay their Nannies.

Nanny here. All sounds great but I’d up the pay to $30-32hr with guaranteed hrs. I’m assuming she would be responsible for all if school was closed or they were sick

For three kids? For what you want $50/her plus OT!

NP, but presumably all the hours outside of 9-6 M-F?
