Is there a service like White House Nannies that helps people find the kind of nanny that cooks and helps around the house while kids are at school? Kids are older and don’t need supervision but could use help with also driving around to activities.

OP, when you mention kids are in school does that mean child care is not needed? That wasn’t clear since many parents also want after school or standby child care for school closings. So here are possible solutions and you decide based on what your desired set up is for your kids.

If you’re not looking for childcare since kids are in school, then you hire a housekeeper/House manager Who will take care of housekeeping tasks around the house as well as manage your home eg managing home maintenance & scheduling or paying contractors, managing household staff, ordering groceries, handling deliveries/Turns, dry cleaning, watering plants, restocking house supplies .

If you will need a nanny who will be taking care of her children after school but want her to also take on House management tasks like above, the hire a Nanny/House Manager. If you want someone who takes care of the kids after school and does stuff like family laundry,dishes, ironing, light cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, maintaining kids rooms, etc while kids are in school then you want to hire a Nanny/Housekeeper.

If you only want someone who would be doing house managing & family admin/managing tasks and has basic child care experience but will not be caring for the children beyond picking them up/dropping them off at school/activities, a Family Assistant is what you’re looking for. They can also handle doctors/personal/grooming appointments, maybe vet visits for your pets etc.

The key to a successful set up & securing the right candidate is to pay according to the double duties in the combined position & number of children, state duties clearly & stick to them, and specify when those tasks are performed to avoid confusion and possible burn out.

Some of the tasks may not be exact so be open to hear from someone who’s worked those dual positions before and ask them what works best. If any house managers/family assistants/house keepers are on here, they can specify what is considered their duty or what’s appropriate when combined with child care.
