Unworked overtime RSS feed

Curious what others do in this situation. We had asked our nanny to work overtime two days this week (30 min one day, 30 min another day). On Saturday my husband tested positive for COVID, so we told the nanny not to come in. Obviously we will pay her her normal hours, but I have never run into this before.

Would people pay the overtime?
For clarity, I am not trying to nickel and dime the nanny or get out of paying what we owe. We don't have anything in the contract that addresses this specific scenario, so trying to see what others do.

I would pay it. Even though it's only 30 minutes, she may have altered her plans or had to decline an invitation to accommodate that.

I would pay it. It's one hour of pay towards good will for your relationship.

Yes, you reserved her time and are canceling.

I would just pay her.

Plus like another poster stated, it will establish goodwill which is always a win win!

Of course you pay the overtime. You don't rant to Nickle and dime her but that's what you are doing. It's not her fault your nanny got Covid

You must pay OT; not the nanny’s fault that your husband got ill.
