Is it because they usually have to string together part time jobs? Or because cleaning is more undesirable than caring for kids? |
Its a physically harder job. |
I think it depends on who you hire and what the duties are for either job . |
-A housekeeper is commuting 4-8x a day back and forth if she does 2-4 houses. A nanny has one commute there and back.
-Nannies are w2 employees where the family pays into their SS, unemployment, etc. Housekeepers are 1099 and responsible for all of their taxes. |
how much housekeepers make? I think they are making roughly the same. Commute and all that, and housekeeping is physically more demanding, but housekeeping does not involve as much responsibility. Some nannies make more. |
Usually $5-10hr more than nannies |
They make more than that. |
My last housekeeper hada double knee replacement surgery in her early forties. |
It’s more physical and they work less hours in a day usually. They need to make enough to support themselves/a family. |
do they make about $50 per hr? Because of not, it is better to be a full-time nanny, |
I think cleaning is more physically exhausting labor vs. caring for children. |
This isn't even hard to answer. Their job is so much more physically demanding than ours + I don't even like cleaning my OWN bathrooms, ha. I'm a nanny and have a cleaner come 1x a month (would do 2x a month if I could financially swing it) and pay her $150 for the 4hrs she's over, well earned. |
