Is there a reason why some Nannie’s wear scrubs and others don’t? RSS feed

Hi, I’ve noticed some caregivers wearing full scrubs to take care of kids and others don’t. Is there a reason? And for the ones with scrubs do they have special certificates or qualifications? I’m just curious. Thank you

You'd be better off asking them - we can only guess.
In my experience:
-comfort
-ease of washing/replacing
-don't need to decide what to wear each day

I doubt they have special certificates, though it's sweet of you to think that. Maybe some do, but it's coincidence.

Some of us nannies use it as a uniform. Most of them are made with quality material and its easier to get stains out. The Children constantly get us dirty as they eat and play.
There is no special certification nor higher learning associated with the choice of wearing them. Hope this helps

In my experience, most people who wear scrubs are post partum doulas or newborn care specialists

I think certain families request or require their Nannies wear scrubs because the family may have a pet allergy & their Nanny may own a pet.

For example, I used to own two cats & my NF were really allergic to them.

So they required me to immediately change into scrubs upon entering their home.

Honestly some of them wear them just to show off. Making other people and other Nannies think, they have a special certification in something. (A nurse). When in the reality; they have the same experience as the rest of the Nannies who just wear; their nice clothes. Clothes that make them feel comfortable, easy to wear and play with kids.

Like leggins, T-shirts, nice shorts in summer, jeans and going on. Every nanny has their own style, and that's great.

Hope this help.

Some nannies wear scrubs to look professional when they're doing errands. Others think they look more approachable and friendly wearing regular clothes when interacting with kids. At the end of the day, it really comes down to a personal preference.

It my personal preference,.no showing off it’s just easier.

They don't want to ruin good clothes. Common sense.

I’m a Newborn Care Specialist and Nanny. I wear scrubs the first 3 months after that just comfy clothes. Some families do request to wear uniforms and I’m okay with that.
When i lived in FL most caregivers wore scrubs, it’s a personal choice. Some nannies are also CNA’s and have a side job after hours and they’re required to wear uniform.
YES all these people have certifications: NCS|CNA|LPN|Med Tech.

Some do have certifications such as NCS CNA even LPN and they don’t wear them to show off. It’s their personal choice and if they were hired by agency is a requirement to wear scrubs.

gosh, cannot imagine someone having a side job after a day as an infant nanny

Most nannies in Miami seemed to wear them. May be it's choice, maybe it's weather, but I was convinced it's the foreign employers who insist they wear them. It's like Mexican soap opera where the maids have uniform.
