I was offered $25 cash for 3 kids in Bethesda
47 hours weekly is this fair? Both older kids go to school but I have to watch them at some point during the day of course.I will also be driving them to school but they will provide a car. Not sure if this is fair since I just moved here from FL. They also asked me to do laundry and make sure the house is clean(take trash out and dishwasher). |
Yes, but I would not take cash and do it on the books and pay taxes, social security's, etc and overtime after 40 hours. |
Not for three kids. More like $35 and OT for 7 hours. It is illegal to pay in cash and not take taxes and fica. It is also cheating you. Frankly, I would pass and look for someone honest. |
Three kids and you are also their msi! Good lord NO. RUN. |
I get $27 for one baby who sleeps 3 hrs out of 8,5, in Bethesda |
No less than $30. Especially you will have them when sick and school is out . No way! |
$25/HR seems pretty low even if it is paid in cash (I am assuming w/no taxes taken out.)
Most especially since you will be responsible for washing clothes, taking out the trash, keeping the dishes clean as well as keeping the house clean overall. I would keep looking for a new position OP. Good luck! |
^^ Also wanted to add that after forty hours - you would be definitely entitled to overtime (OT) which is time & a half. |
OP here- Thank you so much for all the replies.
I decided to keep looking! |
NO WAY. You can get $27-30 for one baby with overtime over 40 hours |
Only if NO housekeeping.
Job creep, job creep, job creep. |
47 hours on the books, $27/hour
27(40+7*1.5)= 27*50.5= 1363.50 *If* it’s on the books, with overtime, and the only “chores” are kids’ laundry, returning spaces you use to their prior condition, and preparing kids’ foods consumed during your hours (which may include packing lunches for school), then it’s fine. If *anything* is outside of what I listed, pay rate should be $30. |
I get $1250 a week before taxes, $400 Health Insurance stipend, 12 days PTO, all holidays paid(including day after thanksgiving. Started with a newborn that is now 14 months, once other baby is born my rate goes up $2.
Please get paid on the books. (PS: when I worked in DC I used to get workers comp, that’s the only thing I do t get working in Bethesda.) |
