We are in conversation with a housekeeper but she doesn’t know how much to charge. What is the going rate on Washington DC? We live in NE. |
If she doesn’t know how much to charge in her profession she’s either not a legitimate housekeeper or moonlighting as a housekeeper. I personally would Lee looking for someone more reputable. |
Fair. She’s new to home housekeeping. She quoted me $45 an hour. That’s insane, right? |
Not really insane quote if she comes for two hrs. |
How many hours a week ? |
Our housekeeper has been with us for about 5 years; she charges $40 per hour. We use her 12 hours a week. |
This is impossible to answer without more information. Tell us, OP, how much does a chicken sandwich cost? A steak dinner? Exactly.
Location matters How many bedrooms/bathrooms square footage What duties you expect from her How often she'll be coming over |
How dirty you make it in between whether there are pets, what type, how many whether there are children, how many, ages and messiness etc |
I am interested about it. |
For one person or a team? |
We pay $30 per hour for our housekeeper, between 12-25 hrs per week. We live in close-in Bethesda.
No problem finding candidates. To be clear, we have weekly cleaners, so our housekeeper does light cleaning, laundry, errands, groceries, food prep, etc. She is not a “house cleaner.” |
I pay $50/hr deep cleaning every other week for one person. It’s not cheap but she is meticulous and works 7 hours without a break (her choice). |
$40-50hr is the typical breakdown but they technically charge per job not hourly usually |
We also pay $30/hr in DC for 15 hrs/week. Surprised to see $40 above. Is that the going rate? |
No. $50 is average. You're getting a bargain. |
