If I were interested in finding a before and after school nanny plus some light housekeeping for a kindergartner and second grader how much do you think this would cost? Is this even feasible? Kids would be in school full time with bus drop off at 8:30 and returning at 4pm. I would preferably like someone who could help make kids dinner, do kids laundry and tidy up around the house. |
At least 25/hr. Who knows? You might get lucky. Go for it. |
Split schedule? How many hours a week?
As someone who has BTDT just an after school nanny, no housekeeping, I pay $35 an hour for two kids. I have friends who pay more. $25 would be great but simply doesn’t exist in this market. |
Nobody wants to watch your kids AND clean your house unless you’re paying them some big money |
No one will do a split schedule. If you are paying full hourly rate for the full day, you can easily fill it. There's absolutely zero incentive for someone to take a split schedule job when the market is booming with full time, long term jobs at $25-35hr |
I pay my house cleaner $40 sn hour and she usually takes 3.5 hours. |
I am a nanny and I think $25hr is fair. Making dinner for the kids and some laundry isn’t a lot. If you’re asking for vacuuming and mopping that’s a different story. |
OP here - no we have a cleaning company that comes weekly to clean and a yard crew. Just need some basic help around the house with the kid stuff. |
Only an Au pair is willing to work a split schedule. A professional and experienced Nanny never. You should consider an Au pair. |
Are you talking about full time? No one is going to work a part time split schedule. |
Think about it, OP. Who would want to drive to your house in the morning, drive home, drive back and pick up your kids and watch them while doing light housework? |
Someone that’s desperate for work will do a split schedule. I don’t hire desperate people to watch my kids. |
I don't think someone who is so desperate can even take a position like this. As the position doesn't make any sense. |
In today's market, it's a nanny's choice and nannies do not want to do housekeeping. |
No housekeeping. That is for a housekeeper to do. |
