Food for nanny RSS feed

I want to make sure our nanny has things she likes in the house. She eats our food for lunch every day - usually whatever she is make the children. I make sure that I have other food she likes - snacks, treat food, drinks. I try to make sure there are multiple options for things she eats. I ask each week when I am ordering the groceries what she wants to add (she does not usually ask for anything but says what we have is good). She was doing a special diet in January. She did not ask at all for anything, but I noticed something she ate (Lara Bars) and so I made sure to have those in the house the next week.

Can I eat them too? I bought them and make sure there are enough in the house, but that made me think... is it rude to eat things that I got for her? Or is it ok to eat them too?

Of course it’s okay! As long as nanny and your kids have enough for their lunch you can certainly eat your own food!

When I read posts like these; I always think your nanny must be very lucky, to have you like an employer. These small details it's really what I appreciate from a family. Feeling welcome to eat a snack or coffe. No counting that you are very nice asking her what does she likes so you can get it for her. Even though she doesn't ask for anything. I know every nanny is different but for me this means a lot. I really wish all employers were like you.

A nanny.

Another Nanny here who echoes this exact sentiment.
