What is the current babysitting and nannying rate RSS feed

I was wondering what’s the current rate for babysitter and nanny who drives.I am thinking of taking some side babysitting job and potentially a nannying job however I don’t know what’s the rate. I am a college student with almost 3 years of nannying experience. However, I am not sure what’s the rate now especially with inflation.

Depends on where you live.

OP: I am looking for rate in the Bethesda and also northwest DC area.

You’re a college student with 3 years of babysitting experience not nannying experience. Please don’t insult career nannies and think you’re worth the same rate. I would say 18-20$ with your experience.

There will be multiple factors, including how many kids the family has and your total hours. But, I think $25 is a pretty standard starting point these days.

She’s not a professional with experience. 25$ is for an experienced full time nanny not someone with babysitting experience. 17-20$

$20/hr for one or two, 3/4 hour minimum with no housekeeping chores. More than two, $25/,hr and up

There are so many variables, OP, you would need to give specifics. For example, the 2:30 to 6:30 weekday after school pick up job is the highest paying because it’s most in demand. You could easily get $25+ an hour for one child. Night babysitting, where the child is asleep, is around $20.

Op: I actually currently nanny for a family and I have been with them for 2 years. I know the difference it is not because I am younger that I don't have nannying experience.

+1. You could ask for more than $25 for the after school position though.

Can I ask, why you think $35 for after school is crazy? Sounds reasonable to me for part time hours!

Bethesda. We needed someone reliable (always on time) and doesn’t cancel last minute or the day of. Two good kids.
