Have people resumed in person interviews or is it still mostly Zoom/video? First time interviewing a nanny. If either is acceptable, is a video interview going to give me a good enough feel? |
1st time interview can be a zoom call or regular phone call.
And if you like your nanny candidate, and would like to move on to the next stage of getting to know her more and reaching out to her contacts. You can schedule an in person meeting as your 2nd interview. |
Both work fine. |
The only reason to do both as phone or virtual is if it’s a live-in position across the country. |
I would take a Zoom call just like a normal phone call. For me it's the same. I wouldn't take that Zoom call like if were my "1st interview". That it's just a call. The family only want to have an idea how you look and talk. If everything went well in the Zoom call and agreed to take next step; we could arrange our real "1st interview in person" . I would count this as "My real In person 1rst. interview". In short. An Interview in person is what I would count; because right there I could see if I like the family and I can see them in person, interact with them and meet children. |
First round video interviews then meet your top 1 or 2 candidates for a trial |
Thanks all. By "first time," I meant this was my first time interviewing/hiring a nanny. I would prefer an in-person interview, just wasn't sure if that was the norm with Covid. Appreciate the advice. Will definitely do in-person for the couple top candidates. |
