Background checks, contacts and payroll- services? RSS feed

Are there any recommendations for services for these things? We will be looking to hire a nanny in spring or summer and have only used babysitters in the past so don’t know where to start. Also, any recommendations on where to search for a nanny? Would rather not use a nanny service and pay a steep fee. Thanks!

GTM Payroll Services is a good tax/payroll service. They can do your workers comp if you need it. I think they do background checks too. If you don't want to use an agency, try parent/nanny Facebook groups and post your job.

Hoenstly, either word of mouth or an agency is your best bet. There are some agencies that aren't as expensive or have payroll wrapped in to the cost.

We use NannyChex for payroll and tax assistance. We found our nanny on Care.com, and then called her references. We didn't know anyone who had a nanny or was looking for a nanny at the time, so there was no one to ask for referrals. However, if you have a neighborhood email list or Facebook group, you could try there. The nanny agencies in the area charge a 20% of annual salary placement fee, and that was way too much for us.
