Nanny and illness RSS feed

My nanny has crohns and by chance my youngest daughter does as well. This was found out by pure coincidence at interview.
She has been fantastic, always on time, great with the kids and reliable. However, she now has rheumatoid arthritis and I can tell she is struggling with walking etc/seems to be in pain.
She only works part time for us but will be working 50 hour weeks over summer. Would appreciate any thoughts.

You know she has crohns, and you're fine with it. That's wonderful, many employers wouldn't understand or care.

Either she can do the job or can't. If she can't work long term due to RA, she can apply for SS disability.

There are great medications out there for RA. I have had it since I was 32 years old and I have found biologics to be literal lifesavers.

Over the summer? It's August 6th - the summer is 2/3 over! If you want to keep her, tell her that and ask what she needs to do her job without it causing her pain.

Perhaps OP is talking about keeping her through the year and looking ahead to next summer.
