I'm moving to Florida.
Wondering if anyone knows any upscale agency used in the FL are by parents looking for nannies. Thanks! |
Nannypoppinz is national, as are some others. Otherwise, google is your friend. |
care.com
But I always recommend neighborhood referrals as your best possible source for great nannies. |
Keep in mind, and I see this on all the listservs and parent Facebook groups I'm in for other parts of the country - your rates will need to go waaaaaay down. In DC, it seems that pretty much all nannies make $20-$30 per hour. In other parts of the country (probably excluding places like NYC and LA), $12 per hour is considered generous, and many people are making $8-$10, with experience and good references. So unless you're headed MAYBE to Miami - be prepared for a dramatic drop in pay, far beyond the decrease in the cost of living. |
$15 is normal in Miami. I lived there for a few years. Just moved to a far out Philadelphia suburb and the pay is a lot less. It sucks. |
OP here
Thank you so much for all the answers/help. |
Where in the U.S. would a Nanny only make $8 - $10/hr.?
That seems even below minimum wage….. I live in San Diego CA where most Nannies make minimum $15/hr. |
The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, and that is the minimum wage in about half the states. From what I can tell, in large swaths of the south and Midwest, nannies don’t make much more than that.
I would expect San Diego, CA to pay more - but even that $15 you quote is less than what people pay in DC, even though the cost of living is probably lower here. |
If you want a quality nanny, expect to pay more. You pay for what you get. I'm in the south, but I won't babysit for less than $18/hr |
What?? I live in low COL Ohio, and it's $15-$20 for a nanny here. You can't even get a teenage babysitter for $12/ hour. |
Yeah...I'm in Tampa Bay and you're not getting any nanny for $12 hr. There are upscale nanny agencies here I'm sure.
OP, Florida is a big state, so you should google for where you are moving to. |
